We are "Innovative through Research"
In 2020, the SIVIS GmbH was awarded the research seal "Innovative through Research" from the Stifterverband for its special research competence and innovativeness. Here you can learn more about our research projects and innovations.
Research and development at SIVIS
Innovations are a key force in the economic success of a company. In almost all industries, exploiting the innovation potential is of great importance. Innovations are also becoming increasingly important in order to be able to compete successfully. The SIVIS GmbH has therefore been investing in research and development for a long time.
Our understanding of innovation includes the development of new products so that we can always offer our customers future-oriented and advanced applications. Our understanding of innovation also means to expand our perspectives, to look beyond our own horizons and also to renew our own structures.
Research seal of the Stifterverband
In 2020, we were awarded the research seal “Innovative through Research” for our special research competence and innovativeness. The seal is awarded by the Stifterverband, one of the largest private science sponsors in Germany.
Cooperation with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences
SIVIS cooperates closely with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. On the one hand, the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and the SIVIS GmbH are working together on the “AutoBer” project. For this, the SIVIS expertise in the area of authorisation systems was extended by the necessary competencies in the area of algorithmics/optimisation through cooperation with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. On the other hand, the SIVIS GmbH assigns and supervises many topics for Bachelor and Master theses. In the last three years, 10 students have worked with SIVIS. The promotion of young academics is an important part of our understanding of innovation. The specialized knowledge of the students and the innovative approaches complement our research perfectly.
S.RufMobil as part of the RAMSES project
RAMSES means “Remote Area integrating Mobility Hub for Smart Environment InfraStructures”. The EU-funded research project aims to strengthen mobility in rural areas and brings together public transport service providers with alternative mobility providers and rural communities on an online platform. This platform aims to strengthen in particular the small providers of mobility services in rural areas such as voluntary community transport.
This is what innovation looks like at SIVIS – an example project
The FMER funded project “AutoBer”
“AutoBer” is a project funded by the FMER (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) in the field of communication and security of digital systems. In order to supplement the expertise of SIVIS in the area of authorisation systems with necessary competences in the field of algorithmics/optimisation, a cooperation with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences was established.
Background of the “AutoBer” project
The processes for creating and maintaining roles in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are time consuming and require profound knowledge of almost all processes in the company. However, the necessary resources are not available in many companies. This is particularly the case in times of a persistent shortage of skilled workers in the sector of IT security. This results in high security risks in many IT systems.
Objective of the “AutoBer” project: Automated role and authorization concepts
The objective of the “AutoBer” project is the development and implementation of an automatized system, which can independently propose role and authorization concepts. This should be possible without the know-how of experts, so that no extensive consulting projects would be necessary. The automatic creation of practical role concepts is a first in the industry and science.
Challenges in the implementation of the automated ERP system
The challenge of implementing the automatic ERP system is that the new software must be able to process very large amounts of data. These data volumes are too large for the standard procedures for data analysis available in the scientific literature. Therefore, the so-called “Role Mining Optimization Algorithms” must be adapted and extended accordingly. Furthermore, a constant interaction with the algorithm must be guaranteed in order to transfer existing consulting knowledge to the virtual consultant during a learning process.
