We take responsibility for the environment
We want to leave an intact environment and the best possible living conditions to future generations. That is why we take responsibility.
SIVIS is a climate-neutral company
It is natural for us to make our contribution to the preservation of the environment and take responsibility for it. We want to leave an intact environment and the best possible living conditions to future generations. Therefore, we engage ourselves for climate protection.
This means that we have recorded all CO2 emissions generated in the SIVIS and try to reduce or avoid them.
We offset all unavoidable CO2 emissions through a climate protection project. We are supported by ClimatePartner in our mission to become a climate-neutral company. The fact that we are a climate-neutral company is confirmed by the ClimatePartner label.
Cooperation with ClimatePartner
What does the cooperation between ClimatePartner and SIVIS look like?
ClimatePartner works to improve the living conditions of people, animals and plants worldwide through climate protection. The team of climate experts and strategic planners helps us to calculate our CO2 emissions, and to reduce and offset them.
For this purpose ClimatePartner develops and promotes climate protection projects. These improve the situation on site and create opportunities for people to improve their lives. Furthermore, they preserve the habitat of animals and plants.
Step 1 – Determining the CO2 emissions of all business processes
ClimatePartner has captured the relevant CO2 emission sources of SIVIS in a balance. The analysis and annual update of this balance sheet enables us to implement and monitor measures to further avoid and reduce CO2.
Step 2 – Offsetting CO2 emissions through a climate protection project
The climate protection projects save CO2 – for example through reforestation measures or the replacement of climate-damaging technologies.
All ClimatePartner projects are certified according to the highest international standards, and independent third parties verify that the measures are implemented on-site.
Step 3 – Trace CO2 compensation
The ClimatePartner process with an order-related ID number makes climate neutrality transparent and traceable: At www.climatepartner.com/14540-2004-1001 you will find the certificate of our climate neutrality with information on how much CO2 has been offset by the company and which climate protection project we support.
The Virunga National Park
The Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the oldest in Africa. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site and unrivaled in its biological and geological diversity. Its biodiversity must be protected, especially the endangered mountain gorillas.
Protection of the Virunga National Park
About one third of the last mountain gorillas live in the wild in Virunga National Park. 600 rangers protect the area from armed militia, who enrich themselves on natural resources, animals and wood for the charcoal trade. The illegal exploitation is a million-dollar business and finances a cruel civil war. More than 160 park rangers have lost their lives on account of the work they do.
Hydropower for the habitat of mountain gorillas
In Virunga, 97 percent of the population lives without electricity. The illegal charcoal from trees is for many people the only source of energy. This leads to a heavy deforestation of the forest. Without alternatives to charcoal, it will be deforested in ten years. ClimatePartner’s climate protection project is a small run-of-river hydroelectric power plant with an output of 13.6 megawatts. In the meantime, it supplies around 5,000 households and many new small businesses with electricity. By providing an alternative to charcoal, the forest is deforested less and the habitat of the mountain gorillas is protected.
We take responsibility for our employees
Our employees are our most valuable assets, as they are our key to the company’s success. All employees and job applicants have the same opportunity at SIVIS. Only professional and personal qualifications are relevant.
