Workflow

In SiAM there are different variants to display a workflow. On one hand, SiAM has its own workflow engine that can be activated directly from SAP. On the other hand, this workflow engine can be controlled with an identity management system or another external workflow engine.

Workflows in SiAM are used for:

• Application system for new entries and changes of authorizations,
• Proceedings relating to permissions with pre-defined workflow steps,
• Escalation and audit workflow with critical authorizations.

Access to the SiAM workflows for the application system and with escalations is also available in a web-based variation.

In comparison to other products

Flexibility and simplicity are important when introducing workflow based proceedings for permissions and testing:

• Workflow solely in SAP.
• Workflow in a web-based application.
• Parallel Workflow in SAP and web-based.
• Initial start also from external systems (e.g. IDM).
• Simple adaptation and extension.
• Documenting each workflow step (revision).
• Connection to groupware systems.
