This company, founded in 1946, has almost 50 national and international subsidaries, numerous agencies and participation of over the world. SICK has over 4,700 employees worldwide and a turnover (2007) of 707.5 million €.
SAP had already been introduced in different locations. Now, the company had other considerations concerning the refinement of their authorization concept. User management should be able to be applied in different countries in a decentralized fashion. Central management posed Sivis a big challenge regarding the authorization concept and serivce and user management: they had to be so simple that they could be introduced to the respective country organizations or responsible people with 1-2 days.
It came about that the available authorizations or authorization concept should be taken over to a great extent and - where necessary - improved.
A test installation with technological proof-of-concept should be carried out in the shortest possible time and to strict deadline.
By the introduction of SiAM, the concept was improved and refined. In this way, all requirements in the area of compliance and security were achieved. Requests, documentation and data ownership control were simplified through SiAM.
Within a few weeks, a complete changeover, including the test phase had been carried out successfully. The "Go-Live" was enacted with no problems through SiAM at the press of a button.
The result was a ready, safe authorization concept in SiAM which can be efficiently and clearly managed and administrated.
The project was realized within deadline and within budget, to the satisfaction of the customer.
License costs and consultation fee were markedly lower than comparable project costs for introduction on the basis of SAP standard. In addition, the quality of the concept and the process of user management were clearly improved.
Today SICK AG is in possession of a better and more structured authorization concept, in comparison to a manual concept. They received the necessary transparency and clarity with the change processes documented in SiAM. SAP authorizations are managed by fewer people - without loss of time or quality.
There was a business-wide, central user and authorization management by the different SAP systems and their clients.
The stable role concept is instigated in the running company with only minimal changes. Any change requirements are solved by allocation, and not by new, or altered roles, as a rule. The data owners can trust that they will receive control of their authorizations (with approval, evaluations and search functions). The decentralized user management functions without constant additional expenditure (further enquiries, support with requests, etc).
